Clint Eastwood

Bastian used his Digital Nikon D200 camera, to capture this photo of actor and film-maker Clint Eastwood, at the Paso

Robles Digital Film Festival, in November of 2008. As he presented an award to his long-time co-worker and film-editor,

Oscar-winner Joel Cox during the film festival in Paso Robles.

Ramblin’ Jack Elliot

One of the Country-Western music legends, Ramblin’ Jack Elliot was in-concert during the Paso Robles Digital

Film Festival of 2008. A large entertainment tent near a local winery was erected, for more than two days for

festival attendees to enjoy music of some big name entertainers. Jack Elliot performed Friday evening and

Saturday afternoon, Elliott is more than 80 years-old, and thought of as one of Country Western music’s

early trend-setters and stylists, with a vast fan-base.

Jack Tempchin

Guitarist and song-writer Jack Tempchin, rockin’-down at the film festival on-stage.

Tempchin is best known as the original song-writer of some of The Eagle’s most well-

known tunes, such as ‘Peaceful Easy Feeling’, and others. He also has his own solo musical career.

SLO's Louie Ortega and Norm Stephens

San Luis Obispo’s own Louie Ortega performs at the same festival

with Norm Stephens. Stephens’ guitar-playing matches that of

anyone in the world, performing and recording with the likes

of Merle Haggard, and Lefty Frizzell

                            John Andrew Parks

Guitar-balladeer John Andrew Parks, also ‘in-concert’ at the film-

festival. Parks has a broad fan-base, even as far off as China, where

he created a public-service video from his own music, to comfort

victims of AIDS. Parks is from Texas, playing his guitar in a folksy-

blues style, full of stories and tales.

Jose Feliciano

At a press-dinner in 1974, photographer Bastian took this photo of well-known Flamenco-style guitar-player

Jose Feliciano, performing that night at a venue in Hollywood. Feliciano was seated with his mother after his

performance when Bastian approached their table to ask if he could get a photo. Feliciano’s mother was

surprised, and said that many photographers would take pictures of her blind son without even asking.

“You don’t always ask a blind man if you can take his photograph,” she said.
